On Thursday 12th October a general election will take place in Gibraltar and here at Prior Park there will be different events and activities being held to help the students learn more about what will happen. Today two candidates from the GSLP (Gibraltar Socialist Labour Party) and the GSD (Gibraltar Social Democrats) visited the school to take part in a Question Time panel with our year 10 – year 13 students.
This was a great opportunity for the students to ask question and find out more about the issues which will impact them and their futures. There were a lot of interesting questions asked which covered a variety of topics such as fertility, finance and climate change. It was great to see the students engaging in the discussion and making the most of this opportunity to ask their questions first hand.
A massive thank you to Joelle Ladislaus, Giovanni Origo, Christian Santos and Gemma Aria-Vasquez for joining us and answering all the students' questions.
Other election themed challenges and events that will take place include a mock election on the 10th October. Years 7 – 9 have been tasked with creating their own manifesto pledges alongside a campaign poster to advertise them, while years 10-13 have been asked to write an essay titled “What Gibraltar Needs Now”.
