Last week was Maths Week here at Prior Park School, the Maths Department put on a fun, mathematical filled week for all the school to enjoy, starting off with a visit from Dr. Frost. Dr. Frost is an award-winning teacher of maths with a vision to provide high quality education for all. We were extremely lucky to have him visit Prior Park where he taught interesting and interactive lessons to Years 7, 10 and 12.
These were not the only exciting lessons, with Year 12 A Level Maths and Further Maths students experiencing what it was like on the other side of the teacher’s desk. They taught lessons to both Year 8s and Year 10s, which was a fantastic way for them to experience teaching and to inspire the younger students who could see first-hand what they can achieve if they work hard.
It was not all about lessons though, with Pi Day being celebrated with some fantastic, tasty Pi(es) which were brought in by Anna and Barnaby. There was also a “Digits of Pi” competition which was won by Danielle who was able to recite 101 decimals of Pi correctly! Eliot were also victorious during Maths Week, after finishing top in the competitive Inter House Mathletes Quiz.
The week ended with Mathematical Fashion Friday which saw some really great maths themed outfits.
A massive thank you to the Maths Department for putting on such an amazing week which is sure to inspire students to work hard and enjoy the subject even more.
