The Young Enterprise team at Prior Park School, Gibraltar, has excelled this year, embracing every challenge of running a real business. Their journey has been inspiring, from navigating unexpected hurdles like dealing with copycat competitors and the complexities of sick pay to celebrating their successes.
Winning this year's 'Journey Award' at the YE finals is a well-deserved recognition of their outstanding growth and teamwork. Cristina has led with confidence and vision, Olivia has demonstrated the kind of financial acumen anyone would trust, Darren has spoken with wisdom beyond his years, and David Ashton has brought positivity and a 'can-do' attitude to every stage of the experience.
Through every triumph and setback, the team has shown remarkable resilience, creativity, and collaboration, developing life skills far beyond what a classroom can offer. This experience has shaped each of them in lasting ways, and the school community is excited to see what their future holds.
Hear what Olivia had to say about this experience:
"Taking part in Young Enterprise and forming our business Macapz has been an incredible journey of growth and learning. Public speaking has been a major part of the experience, from being interviewed by GBC to pitching in front of panels and spectators, each opportunity boosted my confidence and communication skills. Working as part of a team taught me the importance of collaboration, listening, and sharing responsibilities. From raising funds and promoting our product to sourcing quotes and negotiating with local businesses, I’ve developed a strong understanding of how a real business operates. I’ve also learned to adapt, problem-solve, and stay motivated through challenges. Most of all, I’ve seen how creativity, resilience, and teamwork can turn a small idea into something real and exciting."
