A Level and BTEC Success

Prior Park School is delighted to share the success of its A level and iBTEC students who learned of their results on Thursday morning.

This group of students have now seen both full GCSE and post-16 assessments, despite their earlier school years being disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the national UK picture suggesting that this year’s performance will have fully returned to pre-Covid levels, our cohort have again out performed expectations and the whole community is delighted by their results, both collectively and individually for the vast majority of our school leavers.

Headlines from this year’s results:

  • 75% of A level grades were graded A*, A or B (and 41% at A or A*), with well over half our students achieving straight A*-B grades.
  • 100% of iBTEC grades were at Distinction or Distinction* - UK universities treat these awards as A* and A grades for entry.
  • Of the students who applied to Russell Group and similar top-tier universities, 100% secured their place to study, with 96% achieving their Firm choice place.
  • A value-added score of 0.41 compared to baseline prediction by Cambridge University means that nearly one in every two grades achieved by our students improved by a whole grade.

Our school leavers this year not only significantly outperformed UK school and college data they also developed their full potential by outperforming forecasts calculated by Cambridge University from baseline data. In particular, our students more than doubling the forecast number of A*/A grades (41% compared to 18% predicted) demonstrates quite how impressively they have performed.

As a community we are all incredibly proud of the 2024 A Level cohort.
