We also welcome visits from prospective families throughout the year, call us today to arrange a visit.
Admissions Process
Our aim as a school is to admit students with academic and other qualities such that the child would gain the maximum benefit from the opportunities available at Prior Park School.
Applications for a place at Prior Park School should be submitted before 10th January, for entry in the following September.
Applications are welcomed from any student interested in joining the school.
All registered applicants will be invited to attend the school for a short interview with the Head or Deputy, as well as taking an online Cognitive Abilities Test. We also request references from the student’s current school. In the event of there being more applications than places available, places will be offered in accordance with the following criteria (listed alphabetically);
• academic ability & school report or an informal teaching assessment
• adherence to the vision and values of Prior Park Schools
• attitudinal interviews
• class size & size of the school roll
• extra-curricular interests & other talents
• other factors – including whether the child has a parent who teaches in one of our schools
• previous attendance at The Paragon (for entry to Prior Park College)
• siblings* at another Prior Park School
• whether the family are Roman Catholics or other Christian denominations
* A child is a sibling if they are a full or half-brother or sister, an adoptive brother or sister or if they are children of the same household – although this does not guarantee entrance.
Parents must disclose any particular known or suspected circumstances relating to their child’s health, allergies, learning difficulties or disabilities during the admissions process.
The Admissions Panel will gather all the information from Admissions Process for each applicant and make their official offers to students for a place at the school.
When applicants exceed the available number of places it is inevitable that some will be disappointed. All offers of places are made in writing, either by the Head or by colleagues in the Admissions & Registrars department on their behalf.
If students are not admitted at the beginning of September, then the only other point during the academic year when admission may be considered is the beginning of the Lent Term in January. This only applies to year groups 7-9 and the school does not routinely admit students' mid-course for either GCSE or A Level.
Please download a form from this website or collect one from the school reception. The form must be completed and then signed by all parents/legal guardians who have parental responsibility. It is vital that the form is accurately completed, including details of any Special Educational Needs or health concerns.
The form should then be returned either via reception or by email to: admissions.ppsg@priorparkschools.com
Registration Dates and Fees
Applications are welcomed up until the 10th January for entry in the following September. A completed registration form and £150 registration fee must be submitted to the admissions department in order to register a child.
Acceptance Deposit*
One full term's fees (amount is dependent on which year group the student is entering, please see here for details)
(payable once the student has been formally offered a place, following the admissions assessment).
*Formal acceptance of a place will only be guaranteed on receipt of a full term's fees in advance of the students first term in the school. Parents who withdraw their child with more than a full term in advance will not be required to pay fees in lieu of notice, under these circumstances the deposit will be refunded to you. If no such notice is given, the School will retain the deposit payment.
The Acceptance Deposit is fully refundable from the last fee bill (less any extras to be billed), provided that the child completes their education with us or the necessary notice period is served. Alternatively, this can be donated to the Alumni fund.
For the avoidance of doubt Y13 [Upper Sixth] is deemed the final year for notice purposes. Please note in particular that failure to give appropriate notice if it is intended to change school at the end of Year 11 will nonetheless result in the deposit being retained by the School.
Full Terms and Conditions regarding the acceptance of a place, can be found here.
Please reference your fee payment with your child's full name. We will acknowledge receipt of both your form and registration fee by return email.
Entrance Assessments
Students will be placed on our registration list once registration forms and fees are received.
As part of the admissions process all registered students must undertake an age-appropriate entrance assessment. These computer-adaptive tests attempt to measure Verbal, Mathematical and Non-Verbal Reasoning and assist the school in confirming that the curriculum offered at Prior Park School is appropriate for your child. The assessments are usually taken in January/February.
Following the assessments, we may offer some students recommendations on areas of improvement before they arrive in September, such as spelling, reading or Mathematics, and some guidance as to resources.
Special Educational Needs
We welcome applications from all children. Providing that our Learning Support Departments can offer students the support that they require, we will do what we can to accommodate them. We welcome students with physical disabilities provided that the site is suitable. However, we advise parents of children with special educational needs or physical disabilities to discuss their child’s requirements with the person responsible for admissions at the individual School before he or she sits the entrance exam (if applicable) so that we can make adequate provision for him/her.
Parents should provide a copy of any reports from specialists involved in their child’s care (e.g. Educational Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, etc.) and also disclose any additional support that their child has received in any previous school or setting.
